About Us

Chesham is an expanding old market town with both new and established industry situated in the valley between the A413 and the A41, about 10 miles south-east of Aylesbury. The area served by the fire station includes large areas of woodland, farmland, a main line rail station and major roads.

The 'new' station opened in November 1994 and currently houses a Rescue Pump crewed by an establishment of seven RDS (Retained Duty System) staff who respond to incidents from their ‘normal’ jobs working in the local community.

The staff have a long-standing and proactive involvement in community fire safety, including Home Fire Risk Checks and visits to the fire station by local groups and also regularly take part in national competitions in casualty extrication from simulated road traffic collisions.

The station has close links with the other emergency services, particularly South Central Ambulance Service, to ensure all staff are kept abreast of the latest practical skills and procedures.
