Another successful year for 'Biker Down' training
Thu 18 Dec, 2014
Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service’s Biker Down team is celebrating another successful year's work with local motorcyclists.
It gave first aid training to 436 people in 2014, making a grand total of 749 people trained since the scheme began in February 2013.
Road Safety Officer Keith Wheeler said: "The continued demand for these courses shows that we must be doing something right!
“We know from feedback we have received that some riders have used the skills that we gave them, which makes all the effort worthwhile.
"We have already filled two courses for January 2015, not only with new trainees but also with people coming back for a refresher course."
First aid instructors Colin Manning and Chris Firmin deliver the main part of each presentation. Participants also learn how to manage a crash scene and the reasons why other road users don't always see motorcyclists.
