Biker down rides again in 2014!

Wed 8 Jan, 2014

Riders practise the correct way to remove a crash helmet during one of last year's Biker Down courses.

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service is offering free first aid courses for local motorcyclists again in 2014.

The sessions, which include guidance on how to manage a crash scene, will be running at fire stations across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes throughout the year. They are usually arranged for weekday evenings, starting at 7.30pm, and last about three hours.

Keith Wheeler, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service's Road Safety Officer, said: “I was very pleased by the response from local bikers when we started these courses in 2013. We ended up training more than 300 local riders last year, which far exceeded our expectations.

"Some of those riders have already used the skills that we taught them to help other motorcyclists who have crashed, but they can also use their skills to help other injured road users too.”

Although these courses are free, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service gives attendees the chance to make a donation to charity.

The first courses of 2014 will be:
