Crews work through night in flood-hit Marlow
Sun 9 Feb, 2014
Firefighters are working through the night in Marlow to prevent floodwater from entering homes in Garnet Court (above) and St Peter Street (below). Please scroll down for more details.
Garnet Court is experiencing its second flood in four weeks, with surface water not draining away quickly enough. Crews from High Wycombe, Marlow, Stokenchurch, Beaconsfield, Amersham and Great Missenden have been working in shifts since Thursday afternoon (6 February) to pump water away.
Station Manager Dean Elliott said: "Even though these properties are defended by a large number of sandbags, many of the homes would suffer considerable damage without the continuous pumping of water by fire crews around the clock."
Crews from Marlow, High Wycombe and Stokenchurch have also been working in shifts since this morning to prevent floodwater from entering two riverside properties, one of which has a basement, in St Peter Street.
