The Fire Brigades Union (FBU), which is in dispute with the Government over pensions, has today announced further strike dates in December 2013 and January 2014:

  • From 7pm to midnight on Tuesday 24 December 2013.
  • From 6.30pm on Tuesday 31 December 2013 to 12.30am on Wednesday 1 January 2014.
  • From 6.30am to 8.30am on Friday 3 January 2014.

The FBU has also called for industrial action short of a strike - namely, a refusal to undertake voluntary overtime - for control members between 7pm and midnight on 24 December, and firefighter members from 7pm on Friday 27 December 2013 to 7pm on Sunday 29 December 2013.

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service has plans which enable it to continue to provide cover in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes during periods of industrial action. These plans were successfully put in place during the FBU strikes in September and November and on 13 and 14 December.

Emergency calls where lives are at risk will be prioritised, and Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service will continue to provide as much information as possible to help people avoid having a fire or other emergency.
