Firefighters supporting Armed Forces Day on 27 June
Wed 24 Jun, 2015
Firefighters have been invited to this year's Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Armed Forces Day, which takes place this coming Saturday (27 June 2015), and will be showing their support as well as providing dedicated on-site cover.
The event is being held at Aylesbury Rugby Club in Brook End, Weston Turville, and runs from 1pm to 7pm. For more information, click here.
Station Commander Phill Mould from Aylesbury Fire Station said: "We are very pleased to support this worthwhile and well-organised event.
"White Watch will be attending with two fire engines and are looking forward to meeting as many members of the public as possible to provide fire safety advice around a range of topics."
Firefighters, led by Watch Commander Barrie Ackerlay, will be encouraging people to test their smoke alarms regularly and to make sure they have planned how to escape from their homes in the event of a fire.
Phill added: "We will also be urging people to be careful when cooking as currently kitchen fires are emerging as the main source of accidental fires in the home, not only in the Aylesbury area but also across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes."
The On-Call crew from Aylesbury Fire Station will be providing a dedicated on-site response during the flying display, which is scheduled to take place at around 4pm.
