Community safety staff at Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service would like to draw the public’s attention to a safety notice issued by Currys.

It has been discovered that a component in the CJAL28 combination microwave, available as both a Kenwood and a Russell Hobbs, may pose a potential safety hazard. The component can overheat, and may lead to a fire.

The microwaves were generally sold between February 2006 and May 2011 and were only available from Currys. No other Kenwood or Russell Hobbs products are involved.

The rating label on the back of the microwave specifies the model number. The label will show KEN CJ/AL28 (Kenwood) or HOB CJ/AL28 (Russell Hobbs).

Currys say that if you own one, please unplug it immediately and return it to any Currys store. Proof of purchase would be helpful but is not essential.

If you are unable to return your microwave or have any questions regarding this safety recall, call the helpline free on 0800 0778019 (8am to 8pm) or email microwaverecall@knowhow.com.
