Weather more settled, but please stay prepared

Joint message from agencies involved in flood relief operation in Marlow and elsewhere in the Thames Valley

Although we are experiencing a period of more settled weather in the Thames Valley today, with river levels falling at the moment, they are due to rise again over the next few days because of the rainfall we have already experienced.

Areas in the Thames Valley which have already flooded are likely to flood again from Tuesday next week up to the levels already experienced.

We are asking people not to remove sandbag defences but to leave them in place and reinforce them if needed. People in the Thames Valley need to remain prepared.

All of the agencies involved in the flood relief operation will continue to have representatives on the ground in your communities, ready to respond quickly to any local issues.

We are not expecting any properties that haven’t already flooded to be impacted, but those that have flooded may be flooded again.

We are working with the Environment Agency to get a more accurate picture of when and where in the Thames Valley the peaks are likely to be.

More rainfall is also forecast for next week, but this is not expected to be as heavy or sustained as previously experienced.

People can get up-to-date information about the situation in their local area from local media, all agency websites and social media channels and by signing up to the Environment Agencies’ Floodline service on 0345 988 1188.
