Barn fire

Lower Icknield Way, Great Kimble

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service (BFRS) attended a large barn fire in the area of Great Kimble. At the height of the incident 7 appliances and crew along with one officer were in attendance. Appliances on scene;

  • Two appliances West Ashland
  • One water carrier
  • One appliance Winslow
  • One appliance from High Wycombe
  • Two appliances from Oxfordshire

The barn was 100% damaged by the fire. To extinguish the fire Firefighters used;

  • Four breathing apparatus
  • Two main hose reel jets
  • Two hose reel jets
  • Water carrier, along with two other appliances used to shuttle water

Three appliances from BFRS remain on scene. Crews are dampening down hot spots using an extended hose reel in neighboring property due to suspected asbestos roof of burnt barn. BFRS Hazardous Materials Officer consulted, and UK Health Safety Agency informed.
