Fire caused by unattended food left on hob
Copthorne Place, Kents Hill, Milton Keynes
One appliance and crew from Broughton, one from West Ashland and one from Newport Pagnell attended, along with an officer.
A fire in a ground-floor flat of a two-storey block had started as a result of unattended food left cooking on a hob.
The firefighters forced entry to the flat through the front door and were faced with heavy smoke logging.
They used:
- Two sets of breathing apparatus
- One hose reel jet
- Positive pressure ventilation
Many fires could be avoided if safe storage and cooking practices are followed in the kitchen - see our kitchen safety tips for more details.
