Fire in ceiling void
Lower Icknield Way, Marsworth
One appliance and crew from Aylesbury and one from Amersham attended.
The fire was located in the ground floor ceiling void of a two-storey house.
The firefighters used:
- Two thermal imaging cameras
- One water backpack
- Small gear to cut away charred wood
They isolated the water and electricity supply to the house.
Heat from the chimney flue of a wood burning stove had caused insulation foam surrounding it within the ceiling void to smoulder, and causing charring to installation joists and floorboards. A water pipe had also fractured.
The water leak and a small of burning had alerted the occupant and resulted in early detection.
