Fire in commercial building

Copyground Lane, High Wycombe

Ten appliances and crews, five officers and an operational support unit were in attendance at the height of the fire.

Appliances and crews attended from:

  • High Wycombe
  • Beaconsfield
  • Amersham
  • Maidenhead (Control Unit)
  • Slough
  • Aylesbury
  • Windsor, Tinkers Lane
  • Whitley Wood
  • Operational Support Unit from Marlow

A fully developed fire, in the ground floor of a two-storey commercial building, was generating smoke in the area when they arrived.

The building was 100 per cent involved in the fire. The electricity supply to the building was isolated.

The firefighters used:

  • Six sets of breathing apparatus
  • Two main jets
  • A thermal imaging camera
  • Two hose reel jet
  • An aerial ladder
  • Operational Support Unit used to support BA operations
  • Command unit
  • Two positive pressure ventilation fans
  • Breaking in equipment
  • A ground monitor

 

Thames Valley Police attended to help establish a scene cordon. The road is expected to be closed for some time so motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.

Smoke remains present in the area so local residents and businesses may wish to keep doors and windows closed.

The incident response began to be scaled back shortly before 7am. Firefighters will remain on scene throughout the day turning over, damping down and monitoring for hot spots.
