Fire in derelict building

Past

Eight appliances and crews, and six officers, were in attendance at the height of the fire.

The appliances and crews attending were from:

  • Aylesbury
  • Thame
  • Bicester
  • West Ashland
  • Watlington
  • Maidenhead (Command Unit)

A two-storey derelict building was well alight when they arrived.

The firefighters used:

  • Four main jets
  • Three hose reel jets
  • Three sets of breathing apparatus
  • One turntable ladder
  • One 10.5 metre ladder
  • Breaking in equipment
  • A thermal imaging camera
  • A police drone

They isolated the utility services to the building.

Local residents were advised to keep doors and windows closed while smoke was present in the area.

Thames Valley Police established a cordon and road closure.

South Central Ambulance Service also attended.

The building was 100 per cent damaged by fire.

Firefighters remained at the scene through the night, with reinspection’s carried out during the following morning.
