House fire

Past

Seven appliances and crews, and three officers were on the scene, at the height of the fire.

Appliances and crews attending were from:

  • Aylesbury
  • Thame
  • Wheatley (Water Tanker)
  • West Ashland (Turntable Ladder)
  • High Wycombe (on standby at Aylesbury)

A two-storey house was well alight when they arrived.

The firefighters used:

  • Three sets of breathing apparatus
  • Four main jets
  • Two hose reels
  • Two water dams
  • A positive pressure ventilation fan
  • A turntable ladder
  • A water tanker

The firefighters established a water shuttle. One man was treated for minor injuries before being passed into the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

The electricity supply to the house, and a second building nearby, was isolated by UK Power networks.

The house was 100 per cent damaged by fire. A single-story annex was around 20 per cent damaged by fire and 100 per cent damaged by smoke.

The incident response began to be scaled back shortly before 7.30am (Friday 2 February), although a fire service presence is likely to remain on site throughout the day.
