House roof struck by lightning

One appliance and crew from Broughton, one from West Ashland and one from Buckingham attended.

A slight smell of smoke was noticeable when they arrived.

The firefighters used:

• A short extension ladder
• A thermal imaging camera
• A gas monitor
• Small gear
• A positive pressure ventilation fan

They assessed the roof space and identified roof tiles which had been struck by lightning, causing heat damage to felt and an internal beam.

They isolated the electricity supply, used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke, and provided advice.
