Two appliances and crews from West Ashland attended, along with an officer.
An alarm was sounding, and a smell of burning could be detected, when they arrived.
The firefighters used a short extension ladder to get into the house. They located a small fire on a kitchen hob. The firefighters isolated the gas supply and cleared the smoke from the house.
