Lorry fire affecting motorway embankment and sign

Six appliances and crews, and three officers, were on the scene at the height of the fire.

The appliances and crews were from:

• Thame
• Wheatley
• High Wycombe
• Amersham
• Slade Park, Oxford
• Maidenhead (Control Unit)

All carriageways of the motorway were closed while the firefighters established a water shuttle and tackled the fire.

The firefighters used:

• Four sets of breathing apparatus
• Two main jets
• Two hose reel jets
• Small gear

The fire affected the motorway embankment, and a highways sign.

National Highways were also in attendance.
