Lorry fire spreading to embankment

Two appliances and crews from Bedfordshire and one from Broughton attended, along with an officer.

A 7.5 tonne lorry was well alight, with the fire spreading to affect the road embankment.

The firefighters used:

• One set of breathing apparatus
• Three hose reel jets
• A thermal imaging camera

Thames Valley Police closed the road in both directions, from Skew bridge to Newton Leys, while the firefighters tackled the fire.

The lorry’s cargo area was 100 per cent damaged by fire, and the cab was 10 per cent damaged by smoke. Approximately 20 metres by 40 metres of grass verge was affected by the fire.
