Overheated pan left on cooker hob
Alexander Street, Chesham
Two appliances and crews from Amersham and one from Hertfordshire attended.
A pan had been left on a cooker hob, overheated and caused smoke logging to a flat.
The firefighters used a hose reel jet to cool the pan and a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the smoke. They also used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.
Many fires could be avoided if safe storage and cooking practices are followed in the kitchen - data collected from BFRS incidents, recorded between 01 April 2021 and 31 March 2022, identified cooking being the cause of 24 per cent of all non-fatal fire injuries.
