Report of smell of burning at flats

Three appliances and crews from West Ashland, two from Broughton, one from Leighton Buzzard, an incident command unit from Berkshire and five officers attended.

A precuationary partial evacuation took place place and firefighters used a turntable ladder, a 13.5-metre ladder and working-at-height equipment to remove three external panels. They discovered charred insulation material but no fire and are investigating the cause.

Firefighters and Thames Valley Police organised a phased return of people to their flats from about 4.30pm.  The number of attending crews was reduced during the afternoon, with the last crew leaving at 6.45pm and a reinspection carried out at 9pm.
