Ten appliances and crews, along with four officers were in attendance at the height of the fire.

The response included six pumping appliances, a turntable ladder, one welfare unit, one command support unit, and a water carrier.

The resources and crews attending were from:

  • Thame
  • Slade Park, Oxford
  • Eynsham

  • Broughton

An area of thatched roof, close to the chimney breast of a detached, two-storey house, was well alight on arrival.

The firefighters used:

  • Two sets of breathing apparatus
  • Three hose reel jets
  • One main jet
  • Turntable ladder
  • Four 13.5 metre ladders
  • Thermal imaging camera
  • Fog spikes
  • Working at height equipment

Approximately 65 per cent of the roof was involved in the fire.

UK Power Network  attended to isolate external power to the property.

Due to cold weather conditions Transport for Bucks attended to grit the roads to ensure road safety.

Firefighters remained at the scene overnight, and into the following day. They monitored for hotspots and assisted with salvage operation.
