Trailer on fire

Past

Five appliances and crews attended, along with two officers.

The appliances and crews that attended were from:

  • Langley
  • Beaconsfield
  • Gerrards Cross
  • Hillingdon
  • High Wycombe

An open top articulated trailer, carrying a load of several tonnes of recycling material, was well alight when they arrived.

The fire was located at the front of the trailer.

The firefighters used:

  • Four sets of breathing apparatus
  • One hose reel jet
  • Two main jets
  • One grab lorry

The firefighters worked at height from ladders to tackle the fire, which generated a large amount of smoke. They also used a grab lorry, opened the rear doors of the trailer, and applied water to the load.

They remained at the scene until the evening, damping down.

Thames Valley Police and National Highways also attended. Two lanes of the motorway were closed while the firefighters worked at the scene.
