Wheelie bin fire spreading to gas main and affecting electricity supply cables
West Street, Buckingham
One appliance and crew from Buckingham, one from West Ashland and one from Bicester attended, along with one officer.
A fire started in a wheelie bin, and then spread to a gas supply pipe.
The fire, both above and below ground, spread to affect electricity supply cables and roadside furniture.
Engineers from the gas and electricity providers attended, and the utility supplies isolated. Thames Valley Police were also in attendance.
The firefighters used one main jet monitor to provide cooling spray to the house, and a clay mat to help prevent flooding. They used a thermal imaging camera and a dry powder extinguisher and liaised with the utility providers.
The incident was left in the hands of the gas provider. Thames Valley Police is investigating this as a suspected arson.
Police officers, firefighters and the Town Council are working together to provide arson reduction advice in the local area.
