A number of excellent opportunities have arisen at Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.

We are looking for dynamic individuals, with proven leadership abilities to join our growing workforce, and to help us make Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes the safest areas in England in which to live, work and travel.
If you want to progress to the next operational role, at the following levels:
- Crew Commander
- Watch Commander
- Station Commander
Then we have several opportunities to attend our Development Centre.
If successful at our Development Centre, you may be offered a substantive position at your current level and entered into the development pool for the next role or may be placed straight into a temporary promotional position if available.
The Development Centre consists of two modules, the Leadership module and the Command module
The Leadership module consists of a:
- Communication assessment (written and a presentation)
- Interview assessment (strength based and competency based)
- Group assessment (team interaction behaviours)
The Command module at each level consists of:

To be eligible to apply, you will need to meet the following criteria:
- To be competent in current role
- To have passed the relevant IFE or equivalent for the level being applied for
- CC – 2 out of the 3 listed – Level 3 Unit 2: Fire Operations, Unit 3: Fire Safety and Unit 4: Management & Administration
- WC – 1 out of the 2 listed Level 3 Certificate in Fire Safety and Fire Operations & Incident Command
- SC – Level 4 Certificate in Fire Operations & Incident Command
For Station Commander, a base location within Buckinghamshire where the officer would respond from, out of normal working hours, must be provided to satisfy organisational and operational requirements.
We offer enhanced salaries and access to flexible vehicle lease options or provide a vehicle for flexi duty roles. Re-location packages may be considered for the right candidate.
