Appeal for witnesses to fatal collision - M40

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision on the M40 today.

They received a report of a collision on the southbound carriageway of the M40, between junctions 5 and 4, at about 1.35pm. It is believed that only one vehicle was involved in the collision.

Two people were confirmed dead at the scene. No more details can be given at this stage because the next of kin are yet to be informed.

Two crews from High Wycombe Fire Station were among the emergency services at the scene.

The section of the M40 between Stokenchurch and Handy Cross is expected to be closed for at least two hours, while roads policing officers carry out an investigation at the scene.

Anyone who saw the collision is asked to contact the Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 101. Motorists are being advices to avoid the area.
