Fatal collision on the M1 - Newport Pagnell

Emergency services have been at the scene of a fatal collision on the M1 near the Newport Pagnell services this afternoon (Sunday 4 August).

They were called to reports that a lorry had overturned on the southbound carriageway, between junctions 15 and 14, shortly before 4.30pm.

The white Mercedes-Benz lorry hit the central reservation under the pedestrian bridge that links the two sides of the service area, and overturned near the entrance to the services. The lorry also collided with a blue Ford Focus car.

The driver of the lorry, a 54-year-old man from Kent, died at the scene. Two others who were also in the lorry are believed to have minor injuries.

Firefighters from Newport Pagnell, Broughton and Great Holm were among the emergency services at the scene.
