Fatal house fire - Milton Keynes

Fri 7 Sep, 2018

A woman has died in a house fire in Milton Keynes.

Crews from Great Holm, Bletchley and Broughton, along with an officer, were called to Barkers Croft in Greenleys shortly after 9.30am yesterday (Thursday 6 September).

Group Commander Richard Priest said: "On arrival, two teams of firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus entered the two-storey terraced house and quickly discovered a female adult, who was sadly declared dead at the scene by paramedics."

Crews visited neighbouring homes during the afternoon to offer fire safety advice and provide reassurance to residents.

Mick Osborne, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service's Deputy Chief Fire Officer, said: "Our thoughts are with family, friends and the local community."

The death is not being treated as suspicious by Thames Valley Police. Next of kin have been informed and a file will be prepared for the Milton Keynes coroner.
