The Fire Brigades Union (FBU), which is in dispute with the Government over pensions, is staging four-hour strikes on Friday 13 December and Saturday 14 December from 6pm to 10pm.

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service has plans which enable it to continue to provide cover in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes during these periods of industrial action. These plans were successfully put in place during the FBU strikes in September and November.

Jason Thelwell, Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service's Chief Operating Officer, said: “It's a busy time of year for many people, with Christmas preparations and the Christmas party season in full swing, so whatever you're doing, please take extra care.

"Emergency calls where lives are at risk will be prioritised, and we will continue to provide as much information as possible to help people avoid having a fire or other emergency – not just during strike periods, but all year round."
