“Have a Go” sessions take place in preparation for fifth cohort of Apprentice Firefighters

Tue 22 Oct, 2019

On Saturday (19 October 2019) and Sunday (20 October 2019) BFRS held four “Have a Go” sessions for anyone interested in the possibility of applying to become one of our next Apprentice Firefighters.

Over the two days 33 people attended our fire stations in Broughton and Aylesbury, to find out about the upcoming apprentice application process.

All who attended were given information about the stages of application, the training, and our apprenticeship programme. They were also able to ask operational crews from Broughton, Newport Pagnell and Aylesbury, and members of our support staff, questions about the fire service and working for BFRS.

The opportunity to take part in some practical tests was also offered, to give potential applicants a better understanding of what is required at the role related testing stage of the application process.

Additional “Have a Go” sessions are scheduled for:

      • - Saturday 2 November at Beaconsfield Fire Station (two sessions, one running 9.30am to 12.30pm, and the second running from 2pm to 5pm)
      • - Wednesday 6 November (for women only) running from 4.30pm to 7.30pm

Places at the sessions must be booked in advance, and this can be done online here.

Our next Firefighter Apprenticeship application process starts on Friday 1 November, keep an eye on our website for more details.
