Winter Fire and Road safety event 2018

Fri 30 Nov, 2018

With the cold weather and festive season fast approaching Aylesbury Fire Station is hosting a winter fire and road safety event.

Open to the public between 11am and 3pm tomorrow (Saturday 1 December), visitors to the Stocklake based fire station will be treated to a showcase of operational skills, through demonstrations of:

- An extrication where “casualties” will be removed safely from a mock vehicle collision

 - Our firefighters working at height

- “Huw” our Urban Search & Rescue dog

- A hot fat fire

There will also be displays of our specialist equipment and technology used for:

- Animal rescue

- Urban Search and Rescue

- Drone imaging

- Transporting our crews and responding to the wide variety of incidents we are called to

Alongside a number of educational and informational stalls highlighting key road and fire safety messages, there will be an opportunity to find out more about our On-Call and Apprentice Firefighter recruitment process. We will also be offering a range of fire service gifts for sale alongside a selection of hot drinks and food to keep everyone warm, plus a raffle with some fantastic prizes donated by local businesses.

All profits from the event will go towards The Firefighters Charity.

Group Commander Richard Priest, South Service Delivery Manager, said: “We hope to see as many people as possible at Aylesbury Fire Station for this event.

“Our teams will provide safety information for all the family and there will be a number of demonstrations giving you an idea of how the modern fire service helps keep our communities safe and well. We look forward to seeing you and your family and friends!”
