Draft Public Safety Plan 2020-25 for consultation

Public consultation on our new Public Safety Plan - the blueprint for how Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service will work over the next five years - is underway.

The plan was approved for consultation by our governing body, Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes Fire Authority, at its meeting on 18 September 2019. The consultation is open to anyone over the age of 16.

The Public Safety Plan sets out our draft strategy for the provision of fire and rescue services from April 2020 to March 2025. We have developed it in line with Government guidance, using integrated risk management planning methods.

The document identifies the key challenges that Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service will need to meet if it is to adapt successfully to the changing landscape of risk and demand and meet the expectations of the public and other key stakeholders.

These challenges include addressing the risks arising from:

  • The introduction of new transport infrastructure across the area we serve.
  • A growing, ageing and diversifying population.
  • Civil emergencies, such as the effects of climate change.
  • A changing technology, information and systems security environment.
  • Workforce pressures.
  • A potentially adverse financial outlook.

We welcome feedback on our plans from the people we serve as well as those with a specific interest in our services, such as organisations with which we work and our own staff.

This is your opportunity to help shape our future development. You can read our new plan HERE or by clicking on the picture of the cover, and respond to the consultation using the online questionnaire. The consultation will remain open until 10am on Monday 18 November.

A summary of all the responses to the consultation will be reported to Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes Fire Authority and fully considered before any final decisions are taken.

The Public Safety Plan, together with any changes recommended as a result of the outcomes of the consultation, will be presented back to Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes Fire Authority in February 2020 for approval.
