Youth Inclusion

Youth inclusion

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service (BFRS) has a long-standing history of engaging with young people. We are particularly good at demonstrating and teaching problem solving, communication and teamwork skills, all of which are intrinsic in our work.

Inspiration programme

The Inspiration Programme run by Action4Youth is designed to broaden the horizons, thinking and experience of young people, to make them aware of how our society works and help them understand what their place in it is and can be.

BFRS delivers a half-day fire service experience to students on the course, and provides them with information about apprenticeships and careers in the fire service.

Prince’s Trust – Get Started programme

Later this year we will launch our first Get Started programme in partnership with The Prince’s Trust.

Aimed at young people between 16 and 25 who are not in work, education or training, the course provides an opportunity to experience a week of activities. The week builds up to a group challenge designed to develop skills and confidence. Ultimately, the course concludes with a celebration event for the young people, their family and friends.

There is no cost to attend, it does not affect eligibility for Jobseeker’s Allowance, and lunch and travel expenses are provided.
