Incident involving chemicals

Past

Two appliances and crews from West Ashland and one from Bedford attended, along with two officers.

There was a strong smell of chemicals in a single-storey building when they arrived.

The building was evacuated.

The firefighters used:

  • Two sets of breathing apparatus
  • A thermal imaging camera
  • One gas monitor
  • A positive pressure ventilation fan

The firefighters put a scene cordon in place while they worked at the scene.

A small amount of a chemical, used as a cleaning agent at the site, had been spilled in a plant room.

They ventilated the area and provided advice to the site owner.
