One appliance and crew from Gerrards Cross and one from Beaconsfield attended, along with an officer.
The firefighters provided immediate emergency care to four people who were out of the cars, injured, before they arrived.
The cars were removed from the motorway onto the hard shoulder. The firefighters made the scene safe and left the incident in the hands of Thames Valley Police.
