Past

Eight appliances and crews, and three officers were on the scene at the height of the fire.

The appliances and crews attending were from:

  • Newport Pagnell
  • Broughton
  • West Ashland
  • Bedfordshire
  • Northamptonshire
  • Buckingham

A combine harvester and an area within a field of standing crop were well alight when they arrived.

The incident generated multiple calls to Thames Valley Fire Control Service.

The firefighters used:

  • Two sets of breathing apparatus
  • Four hose reel jets
  • Two main jets
  • A lightweight portable pump
  • Water backpacks
  • Beaters
  • Small gear
  • A short extension ladder
  • A Halligan bar
  • A thermal imaging camera

Three fields of corn, covering an area of around 40 acres, were affected by the fire along with the combine harvester.

An electrical power line in the area was isolated, and farm machinery used to help create fire breaks in the fields. Two water bowsers from the site were also used.

A drone from Thames Valley Police helped to trace hot spots in surrounding fields.
