Chairman of Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Fire Authority (BMKFA) along with Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service (BFRS), Chief Fire Officer reflect on His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services spotlight report on values and culture.
BFRS Chief Fire Officer, Jason Thelwell “This report makes difficult reading for the whole of the Fire and Rescue Service, including myself and I acknowledge without reservation that there is a lot of work to do to ensure all our staff, current and future, are treated with dignity and respect.
The full report and recommendations will be fed into our existing plans to improve the Culture here in BFRS and progress will be scrutinised by our Fire Authority.”
Cllr Simon Rouse, BMKFA Chairman said “Our Fire and Rescue Service plays a vital role in keeping our communities safe. This report on all U.K. Fire and Rescue Services culture is difficult, but necessary reading. In Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes we are determined to be neither complacent, nor defensive, over our culture or issues that exist. It is action that now matters, and we will take the steps needed to ensure our Service is one where it is a safe, inclusive and great place to work.”
