how to apply

  • Must be a competent Wholetime Firefighter, Crew Commander or Watch Commander (confirmation of competency will be required)
  • Crew and Watch Commanders must hold Incident Command level 1 or an equivalent qualification
  • Have successfully completed a Foundation training course
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Can achieve an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance
  • Pass a Service medical and fitness test
  • Have no current/outstanding development action plans or capability issues related to competency
  • Be a competent Breathing Apparatus (BA) wearer
  • Are free of current formal disciplinary actions

 

Desirable critiea:

  • A qualified Working at Height operator (WAH)
  • Able to initiate Offensive Tactical Ventilation
  • Hold an IOSH qualification (Crew & Watch Commander positions only)
  • Qualified in Wide Area Flooding (WAF) level 2
  • An LGV driver

Prepare your application

In order to complete your application, we will require you to complete a supporting statement/question and for you to obtain your training records. These documents will be required alongside other documentation should your application be successful, such as references, DBS check, medicals and kit fittings.

  • The selection process will involve attending an interview, presentation, and behavioural workshop, which assesses your leadership and behaviours. In addition to this, you will be required to attend a Role Related assessment day. These assessments will be held in July 2026.
