About this vacancy

You will undertake activities where the Fire Safety Order applies, carrying out fire safety audits, engaging with businesses and other non-domestic premises.

The role includes:

  • Engaging with businesses and members of the public with reference to the Fire Safety Order
  • Providing fire safety support and guidance to businesses and where necessary undertake formal enforcement and legal action
  • Responding to complaints and undertaking consultation work under Building Regulations, Licensing, and the Housing Act
  • Retrieving and updating electronic information from the Premises Risk Management System using a risk-based intervention programme
  • Producing reports, letters, notices, and plans in accordance with fire safety policies and procedures

Experience and Qualifications Required:

Qualifications & Training:

Essential Criteria

  • A good general level of educational achievement as a minimum GCSE qualifications at C or above / levels 4 -9 or equivalent in Maths and English
  • Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety
  • Full UK valid Driving Licence

Desirable Criteria:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate
  • NEBOSH Fire Certificate
  • APCIL or equivalent legal training
  • L5 Fire Diploma in Fire Engineering Design

Experience

  • Experience of undertaking inspections of premises and evaluating and addressing fire risk assessments for compliance with fire safety legislation
  • Experience of determining solutions to hazards and risks identified through inspection and investigation
  • Experience of investigating and preparing enforcement notices
  • Experience of assisting with the investigation and preparation of prosecutions
  • Permanent Contract
  • £40,924 – £42,043 a year
