Field Fire

Past

Two crews from Broughton, one crew from Newport Pagnell and one crew from West Ashland, supported by crews from Woburn and Mereway, along with three officers, attended a fire involving a combine harvester that was well alight, with the fire spreading to approximately 55 acres of cut crop.

Firefighters used one set of breathing apparatus, four hose reel jets, a water carrier and water from a farmer’s bowser to extinguish the fire.

A wildfire unit was also deployed, and crews worked in offensive mode to contain the fire and protect the surrounding environment.

Firefighters carried out a 360-degree perimeter inspection and worked with the landowner, who created a fire break to help prevent further spread. Crews then carried out damping down and turning over to extinguish hotspots.
