One crew from Chesham, a wildfire unit from Chesham and one crew from Amersham attended a fire involving a large pile of chaff at a farm.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet and a wildfire 4×4 unit to tackle the fire, working alongside the landowner who provided farm machinery to pull apart the chaff and expose hotspots.
Crews remained on scene carrying out damping down and turning over operations to prevent re-ignition.
Due to the nature of the material involved, firefighters carried out reinspection visits overnight and the following morning, extinguishing remaining hotspots and applying approximately 1,800 litres of water to affected areas.
