Marlow is an expanding, old market town. It has both new and established industry, and is located close to the A404, three miles south of High Wycombe. The area served by the fire station borders both Oxfordshire and Royal Berkshire fire and rescue services and includes large areas of woodland, farmland, the River Thames and part of the M40.
Drill Nights
Drill nights are held on Tuesdays, from 7pm to 10pm.
The station currently houses a fire engine and an OSU (Operational Support Unit) crewed by On-Call staff who respond to incidents from their ‘normal’ jobs working in the local community. It also houses one of the British Red Cross’s Fire & Emergency Support Service vehicles crewed by volunteer staff.
A fire boat was based at the station for many years, but this was transferred to Beaconsfield Fire Station on 4 December 2009 following a review of Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service’s water rescue service.
Marlow Fire Station relocated from Cambridge Road to a magnificent new building in Parkway in August 2005, with the official opening on 1 October.
The station is also home to Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service’s Wycombe and South Bucks Fire Safety Office.
The opening was well attended, with representatives from Buckinghamshire County Council, Wycombe District Council and the local Parish Councils. Distinguished guests included the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire Mrs Jenny Hopkirk, Marlow Town Mayor Councillor Roger Wilson and the Vice Lord Lieutenant Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher and his wife Lady Bobbie.
Sir Henry gave a speech praising the On-Call firefighters for the dedicated job they do, and their families for the invaluable support they give, before officially opening the station by unveiling the commemorative plaque.
