Our Firefighter Marco, and his team have successfully completed an incredible 2,000 mile rowing challenge around Great Britain, reaching the finish line after 32 days, 30 minutes and 28 seconds at sea. As if rowing 2,000 miles wasn’t impressive enough, they also set a new world record.
The remarkable achievement was undertaken as part of a team effort to raise vital funds and awareness for a variety of charities, as well as providing insight into medical research for specialist teams and universities.
Battling unpredictable weather conditions, relentless physical demands and long days on the water, the team rowed continuously around the coastline of Great Britain, pushing themselves to their limits in support of causes close to their hearts.
Marco shared;
“Two years ago, this was nothing more than a conversation between friends; a crazy idea that seemed almost impossible. Today, that idea has become a reality. We are incredibly proud and truly humbled by the support we’ve received throughout this journey. Every message, every word of encouragement, and everyone who believed in us helped carry us through some of the toughest moments.
Behind this challenge were countless hours of planning, training, sacrifice, and determination. There were highs, there were lows, and there were moments when we had to dig deeper than we ever thought possible.
To have completed an unsupported row around Great Britain safely, successfully, and with a new world record is something we’re still struggling to put into words. It still hasn’t quite sunk in.”
The team’s achievement has been celebrated across the fire service, with colleagues recognising the commitment, endurance and teamwork required to complete such a demanding expedition.

Rowing 2,000 miles around Great Britain in just 32 days is a phenomenal achievement and a testament to the determination, resilience and teamwork that Marco demonstrates every day in his role as a firefighter and beyond. Their efforts have also helped shine a spotlight on some fantastic charities, particularly the Fire Fighters Charity, whose vital work supports countless members of the fire service community.”
