Free seminar: Reducing fires within care homes

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service is working in collaboration with Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service and Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue Service to provide a free seminar session with the aim of reducing fires within care homes.

This session is aimed at those responsible for providing fire safety provision within their premises. The session aims to provide an overview of the following:

Introduction to fire safety and why it is important within residential care.

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and how it applies in care homes.

What makes a fire risk assessment suitable and sufficient.

Understanding the types of fire safety arrangements that should be in place.

Means of escape.

Fire evacuation procedures.

Recognising which type of residents may be at particular risk.

Care home case study.

Input from an external fire risk assessor with third-party accreditation.
