This Christmas, we’re supporting two children’s hospital wards caring for more than 60 children, and we’re asking the local community to help bring some festive joy to young patients spending the holiday period in hospital.
We’re collecting donations of new gifts to help ensure every child receives a special present this Christmas. Donations will be distributed to the wards on 14 December, so all gifts must be donated or collected by 13 December.
What Can You Donate?
We’re looking for a range of new gifts suitable for babies, children and teenagers, including:
- Blankets (including infant blankets)
- Toys for babies, children and teenagers
- Musical toys
- Sensory toys
- Action figures
- Toy cars
- Cuddly toys and teddies
- Books
- Sticker books
- Colouring books
- Arts and crafts supplies, such as pencils, pens, crayons, paints and glitter
- Play dough (individual pots)
- Card games
- Board games
Important Information
To comply with infection prevention and control requirements, all donated items must be new and unused.
Bringing Smiles to Children This Christmas
Firefighter Elliot Tierney, who is organising the appeal on behalf of Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service, said:
“Christmas should be a magical time for every child, but unfortunately many children will be spending the festive season in hospital. Through this appeal, we’re hoping to bring some comfort, excitement and a few smiles to children and their families during what can be a difficult time. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a real difference.”

“Spending Christmas in hospital can be difficult for children and their families. That’s why gifts donated through initiatives like this mean so much. We are hugely grateful to Broughton Fire Station and the local community for their kindness and generosity in helping to bring smiles and festive cheer to children receiving care at Milton Keynes University Hospital this Christmas.”
Make a Difference This Christmas
For many children, spending time in hospital over Christmas can be difficult. A simple gift can provide comfort, entertainment and a reason to smile during their stay.
