Dogs rescued from lake

Oceans Close, Brooklands, Milton Keynes

Cold landscape with frozen lake and yellow sign displaying safety message: Don't dice with ice - keep off the ice.

One appliance and crew from Broughton and the rescue boat from Newport Pagnell attended, along with one officer.

The firefighters used a hook and reach pole to rescue two dogs after they fell through ice on a frozen lake.

One of the dogs was unharmed and was immediately handed back into the care of its owner. The second dog required medical treatment and firefighters used a pet oxygen mask to provide oxygen therapy.

Following the incident, the Broughton crew returned to the scene to hang ice warning signage.

They are also advising anyone with dogs, who chooses to walk near rivers, lakes or reservoirs during the cold weather, to ensure the dogs remain on a lead at all times and stay away from the banks.
