Barn fire generating smoke

Seven appliances and crews, and four officers, were on scene at the height of the fire.

Appliances and crews attending the incident were from:

  • Amersham
  • Aylesbury
  • Hertfordshire
  • Gerrards Cross
  • High Wycombe
  • Maidenhead

The fire generated large amounts of black smoke, visible from some distance away, and multiple calls to the emergency service control room.

A barn, measuring around 30 metres by 10 metres was well alight when crews arrived.

The barn contained hay, straw, a horsebox and a further vehicle.

The firefighters used:

  • Two main jets
  • One hose reel
  • Two dams
  • A bowser

They also worked with farmers and machinery on site to remove unaffected objects.

All contents were 100 per cent destroyed by the fire.

Crews are expected to remain on the scene for some time, turning over and damping down.
