One appliance and crew from Broughton, two from West Ashland, along with an officer attended.

Smoke was issuing from one of the cars when they arrived.

The firefighters provided immediate emergency care to two men, who they released using hydraulic rescue equipment and small gear. Both men were passed into the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

The firefighters used one set of breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet. One car was around 20 per cent damaged by fire.

They also isolated the battery of an electric car and made the scene safe.

The incident was left in the hands of Thames Valley Police.
