Firefighters responded to a fire involving a first floor flat within a three-storey block.
Eight crews and five officers were on scene at the height of the fire.
The crews attending were from:
- High Wycombe (two crews and fire engines)
- Beaconsfield
- Amersham
- Maidenhead
- Princes Risborough
- Gerrards Cross
- Whitley Wood
They used two sets of breathing apparatus. The firefighters used gas monitors to check carbon monoxide levels within the block of flats and worked with South Central Ambulance Service to provide advice to the building’s occupants.
Sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been notified and our thoughts are with them, and his friends, at this difficult time.
The incident response began to be scaled back at around 01.29.
The utility supplies to the flat were isolated and the scene was left in the hands of Thames Valley Police who will complete a file for the coroner.
