One appliance and crew from Chesham, one from Gerrards Cross and one from Hertfordshire attended, along with one officer.

Around 100 hay bales were well alight when they arrived, with the fire spreading to affecting a stubble field.

The firefighters used:

  • A dam
  • A water bowser
  • One hose reel
  • A thermal imaging camera

The firefighters contained the fire spread and established a controlled burn, with watching brief over-night.

The following day they used:

  • A dam
  • A light portable pump
  • One hose reel jet
  • Hay drags
  • A positive pressure ventilation fan
  • An agricultural telehandler

They established a water-relay shuttle, and relief crews attended, followed by re-inspections throughout the next 48 hours.

The incident was closed at around 8.30am on Monday 2 September.
