Two crews from High Wycombe and one crew from Thame alongside two officers attended a fire involving a car which had spread to the grass verge embankment.
Firefighters used two sets of breathing apparatus, three hose reel jets and small tool equipment to extinguish the fire.
A full motorway closure was put in place whilst the firefighters worked at the scene.
